Kat's February Newsletter

Breathe | Move | Thrive

Welcome to February's Breathe, Move, Thrive Newsletter. I hope you all made it through those cloudy January days and are now noticing how the days are very gradually getting longer and brighter.

In this month's edition, I have new events for February and March, my regular In Person Studio lessons and I share a little bit on the topic of deep rest, why we should do it and how you can practice with me.

Take a look below to see what is on offer and start living better in your body.

YOGA NIDRA

Last month I wrote about creating a Sankalpa for yourself. This trait or set of characteristics you desire can be used with Yoga Nidra as the technique to achieve its embodiment.

Yoga Nidra is considered one of the crown jewels of yogic tradition literally meaning "yogic sleep". It is a systematically guided series of mental exercises that can deliver you into a non-REM deep sleep state, while maintaining conscious awareness throughout. It is deeply restorative and a powerfully effective means of self discovery.

Why should you practice Yoga Nidra?

Giving yourself the time to rest, deeply calms the autonomic nervous system that regulates the body's processes which happens without our conscious thought or effort. Through this process, the Parasympathetic nervous system activity increases resulting in a therapeutic healing process for the body and the brain.

As your brain waves change through the activity, the whole system slows down, alleviating muscle tension, headaches and diminishing symptoms of stress and anxiety. Improving and changing your thought patterns provides enhanced cognitive performance, improved health and sleep. It has been used to treat chronic pain and post-traumatic stress disorder.

So what are you waiting for? Why not join me ONLINE every Wednesday evening for some Yoga Nidra? Who needs an excuse to get in bed and enjoy the magic of rest!
